Chester County Velo Racing

Liberty Criterium
The Liberty Criterium took place at Great Valley this past Sunday, most of the team was on hand to race the local crit. In the masters 35+ Iggy took 6th, Matt got 8th and Bob, Scott, Paul and Jim also did well.
In the 3/4 race, Greg got 3rd while breaking 3 spokes in the sprint, Steve was 5th, Big Show was 7th and Chris came across the line in 10th. The rest of the team road well.

Jimmy Guardino crashed hard in the cat4 race and was air lifted to UPenn. A lot of thoughts and prayers went out for Jimmy and his family. It's never fun to see a teammate crash and when something as serious as this happens it shakes a lot of people up. i am happy to report that Jimmy woke up and is doing better. He still ahs a long road ahead of him. Get well soon Jimmy!

Wyatt wins again and so does Jimmy!
Wyatt Stoup made easy work in the sprint to win the cat3 Sportfest Irving Park Criterium. The team raced very well together yet again and it paid off with a win.

Jimmy Guardino won the cat4 race, pulling away from the field to chase down a solo leader to win again! Jimmy has been kicking some cat4 butt lately.

Wyatt Stoup Wins the IronHill Twilight Criterium
In what is probably the toughest race of the season, in our hometown of West Chester, in front of our two major sponsors, the team delivers and Wyatt seals the win in a big way, winning in style to the delight of thousands. The young kid is truely something special and is tearing up the cat3 racing scene.

The IronHill Crit is a big time downtown crit with racers coming from all over the east coast and several from Austrailia. It's a technical four corner crit that is all out from the gun. There was 100+ guys who towed the line, many would be shelled, finishing this race is an accomplishmentand all the Hotfoot guys finished. It was a spectacular night and very fun to be a part of.

Big Show and Steve go 1,2 at JBN
To keep the weekend winning streak going, Eric "Big Show" Salzer and Steve Szwec dominate and take 1st and 2nd at the JBN Criterium.
Rick Wins at Brownstown
Rick Steele won the Masters 55+ at brownstown, congrats old man!!
Wyatt Wins at Pheonixville
The rain was heavy at times today but the CCV guys did not let a little water stop them from dominating the cat3 crit. Wyatt Stoup got in a decen t break and the rest of the team got to the front to block. The blocking helped the break lap the field and Wyatt rode his breakaway partners off his wheel to win!!! The team totally dominated this race.

In the cat4 race, Iggy got in a break and took 2nd. It was a big ride for the little man!

Jimmy Wins Cheyney
Jimmy Guardino won the brutal Cheyney Challenge cat4 race today, this is a great win for Jimmy and this was a race that we promoted. It is a challenging race of attrition with a 2 tough climbs on every lap. Congrats Jimmy!!

Philly 2 Day Classic
Last weekend a lot of the team headed into Philly for the Philly 2 Day Classic. After a 2 year hiatus, the Classic was back on, and what a race it was. Saturday's race was a 2.2 mile circuit in fairmount park, but with winds 20-25 with gusts tp 40+ it made for an interesting race. In the 3/4 race several breaks were attempted but non stuck, the race ended in a big bunch sprint with Rick Steele taking 3rd!

In the Cat 4 Race, "Little Dave" finishing 13th and Mark 19th with Jeff and "Big Dave" not far behind. Jimmy G also completed his first race ever.

Sunday was the infamous Lemon Hill Crit, this race promised to be fast and furious from the gun. in the Cat 5 race Jimmy took 7th, in the Cat 4 race "Little Dave" also took 7th with Mark not far behind. In the Cat 3/4 race there were several crashes and the CCV boys were caught up in them. Steve, Rick, Scott, Gerg and Matt all hit the deck with Matt getting the worst of it, sliding into the curb at 30+ mph, OUCH!

Again there were several break attempts and some solo fliers but nothing stuck and the race again came down to a bunch sprint, and Dave Grant came across in 14th with the remainder of the team not far behind. Click HERE for some photos of the diamond st circuit

Changes
The team has undergone some major changes in the off-season. The biggest and one we are most excited about is our new shop sponsor, Hot Foot Cycles. Owners Victor and Tony bring years of racing and coaching experience to us as well as a first class shop! We also acquired some new sponsors for the 2009 season including In Motion PT and Fitness, Mavic wheels, Fuji Bikes, Spiuk and Tifosi Optics.

Our team is growing and getting stronger every year, with that we decided to form an Elite/Developmental squad where hard work and dedication work together to build a core team of good racers focusing on team building, dedication, potential and results. Congrats to those selected to the Elite/Developmental team!

Lastly, we say good-bye to a few good racers but welcome several newcomers to the team. 2009 is going to be a GREAT season for Chester County Velo!!

We had a tremendous
2008 season finishing 5th overall in the Large Team PA Bar Competition, competing against teams with a lot more racers then us. In the individual PA Bar competition, Wyatt Stoup was the overall champion in the juniors 18 and under. Marty Mrugal finished 3rd and Kyle Centrella took 5th in the senior men's category 3/4. In the senior men's category 4, powerhouse Greg Dattner came in 4th. The team had several wins and countless top 10 finishes to make for an exceptional race season.
